چکیده

This study proposed a risk assessment model integrating remote sensing (RS) and geographic information system (GIS) to map potential illegal waste dumping areas. Geospatial factors related to waste dumping were generated with spatial analysis to quantify the spatial relationship between waste dumping sites and other land use/cover types. The spectrally suspected waste dumping mapping with FORMOSAT-2 imagery and spectral mixture analysis was used as the real-time information and the other geospatial factor. All factors were then combined with certainty factor (CF) model to carry out the risk assessment mapping. The combination of RS and GIS approaches in the CF model demonstrates more significant improvement than the single-approach model. The contribution to area under curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristics (ROC) reaches 0.2539. The results can help environmental protection inspectors to decide the patrol priority and improve the efficiency of environmental protection. Key-Words: risk assessment; waste dumping; certainty factor model; remote sensing; linear spectral mixture analysis; FORMOSAT-2 imagery; spatial analysis; receiver operating characteristics

Spatial Interpolation as a Tool for Spectral Unmixing of Remotely Sensed Images

Super resolution-based spectral unmixing (SRSU) is a recently developed method for spectral unmixing of remotely sensed imagery, but it is too complex to implement for common users who are interested in land cover mapping. This study makes use of spatial interpolation as an alternative approach to achieve super resolution reconstruction in SRSU. An ASTER image with three spectral bands was used...

Joint Sparse Sub-Pixel Mapping Model with Endmember Variability for Remotely Sensed Imagery

Spectral unmixing and sub-pixel mapping have been used to estimate the proportion and spatial distribution of the different land-cover classes in mixed pixels at a sub-pixel scale. In the past decades, several algorithms were proposed in both categories; however, these two techniques are generally regarded as independent procedures, with most sub-pixel mapping methods using abundance maps gener...

Spectral Unmixing of Blended Reflectance for Denser Time-series Mapping of Wetlands

The orbiting cycle and frequent cloud contamination have limited the applications of the moderate-resolution remotely sensed data for detecting rapid land cover changes that are critical to the monitoring of wetlands. It is necessary to use multiple remotely sensed data sources that have different spatial resolution and temporal frequency, because both spatial and temporal details are important...

An Overview of Nonlinear Spectral Unmixing Methods in the Processing of Hyperspectral Data

The hyperspectral imagery provides images in hundreds of spectral bands within different wavelength regions. This technology has increasingly applied in different fields of earth sciences, such as minerals exploration, environmental monitoring, agriculture, urban science, and planetary remote sensing. However, despite the ability of these data to detect surface features, the measured spectrum i...
